STRATEGIC DESIGN OVERVIEW
This dining room was designed as part of a larger open-concept redesign that transformed the home's main living spaces into a warm, layered environment with a refined Afrocentric influence. The design balances cultural character with restraint, creating a space that feels intentional without becoming overly literal or theme-driven.
Existing dining chairs were thoughtfully incorporated into the design, informing the material palette and overall direction. A longer dining table for eight establishes a stronger sense of scale and functionality, while sculptural end chairs introduce variation without disrupting cohesion.
Materiality was used to establish depth and identity within the space. A textured wallcovering adds movement, complemented by rich wood tones and styling that reinforces the cultural influence in a restrained way. A new wall color and recommended flooring were also specified to unify the connected living, dining, and kitchen spaces, with the flooring planned for a future phase of implementation.
